Kettle Yarn Co. yarns will always be a pleasure to knit, wear and will look amazing for years to come for others – like me – who believe fashion shouldn’t be disposable.

As a child I was the always the one marvelling at sunsets or elbow deep in the finger paints, glorying at the amazing way the colours would mix. As an adult, I made a huge leap from Vancouver to London for an MA in Painting at Chelsea College of Art and Design.

Kettle Yarn Co. was founded in 2013 when my skills in colour mixing and paint glazing converged with a steadily growing obsession for knitting. I use a range of techniques in my hand dyeing process to create glazed, subtle colours and sophisticated multi-toned yarns.

My yarn bases are carefully sourced from ethical mills to ensure animal welfare and I’ve carefully chosen fibres with low carbon footprints to reduce negative impact on the environment. All yarn blends are extensively wear tested and I’ve selected luxurious, low-pilling and long-wearing blends that are still soft enough for the most sensitive skins. These high-quality yarns are then lovingly hand dyed in small batches using rich, colourfast pigments to get a subtle depth of colour for people as crazy about juicy, glowing colour as I am!

I generally use low-impact acid dyes, which use less water in the rinse process, do not contain heavy metals and, unlike natural dyes, do not require toxic mordants to fix colour.

Please remember to use only wool-friendly detergents – biological detergents or those including bleach will seriously damage wool! This doesn’t mean you have to buy expensive wool washes – anything you can use on human hair will have a PH balance suitable for washing your precious  wool items.
