In keeping with my ethical goals and standards, whenever possible all fibres and labour is sourced with British suppliers who abide by The Animal Welfare Act 2006 and its detailed subsidiary guidelines.
My products actively work to support British Farmers and safeguard animals and the environment, endeavouring to make the wool industry sustainable for future generations by meeting the needs of the present.
Growing up in the boreal forests of northern Canada, colour has always been a huge part of my life. As a child, I was the always the one marvelling at sunsets or elbow deep in the finger paints, glorying at the amazing way the colours would mix. As an adult, I made a huge leap from Vancouver to London for an MA in Painting at Chelsea College of Art and Design.
Kettle Yarn Co. was founded in 2013 when my skills in colour mixing and paint glazing converged with a steadily growing obsession for knitting and a quest for pill-free yarn.
I use a range of techniques when hand-dyeing to create glazed, subtle colours and sophisticated multi-toned yarns. My luxurious bases are carefully sourced from ethical mills to ensure animal welfare and only fibres with the lowest carbon footprints are used to reduce negative impacts on the environment. My blends are extensively wear tested and I’ve selected only the most scrumptiously soft, but ruggedly tough low-pilling and long-wearing blends – soft enough for the most sensitive skins.
These high-quality yarns are then lovingly hand dyed in small batches using rich, colourfast pigments to get a subtle depth of colour for people as crazy about juicy, glowing colour as I am.
