A Little Monsoon Rain
‘Estonian gathered stitches as rain, trickling down a window pane. A deluge uniting earth and sky.’
Mary-Anne Mace‘s frothy new Beyul Singles and Hythe Monsoon Rain shawl features simple textured stitch patterns worked in bands that culminate in an eye catching lace border.
Choose complimentary colours for an elegant wrap, or contrasting colours for a statement piece. Mary Anne chose Beyul Singles Balsam and Hythe Quartz for a delicate tone on tone feel. The two colours are slightly different adding a gentle contrast to the lace sections.

I’ve been looking forward to the release of this gorgeous design for months and am so pleased to be able to also have the sample in hand to show all of you at Unravel and EYF in the next couple months! There is currently a nice range of options in the shop to pick from for the lusciously soft Hythe kid silk.
Hythe is the softest handdyed kid mohair I’ve ever felt, spun with shimmering silk, then brushed to a form a nebulous cloud. Kid Mohair is usually the 1st and 2nd shearing of an Angora goat, generally at 6 and 12 months and this represents the finest mohair possible for the animal, making this a super soft and luscious lace.
Add a skein of your favourite shade of Kettle fingering weight yarn for your own version of this glorious shawl!
Here is a little animation of some Beyul Singles and Hythe Lace combinations to get you started:
