NEW Northiam – Single Breed, Ethically Sourced and DELICIOUS!
It is finally ready! I am so proud to introduce my new single breed British Bluefaced Leicester in the fingering weight. I’ve been working towards this for ages and am so pleased to be able to add another delicious non-superwash yarn to the Kettle stables.
Northiam
British Bluefaced Leicester
fingering 100 grams = 400 m • 437 yds
Northiam is a smooth, worsted-spun yarn from the finest Bluefaced Leicester sourced, scoured, spun and dyed at a British mill. Buttery against bare skin this long, semi-lustrous fibre has a natural drape, holding a block beautifully.
The softest non-superwash Bluefaced Leicester you will ever feel, Northiam is low pilling with a dry, slightly crisp handle. Its long-staple fibres are excellent for both durable items and delicate lace. Spun in two rounded plies it has excellent stitch definition for cables, lace and other textures while creating beautifully balanced stockinette.

“BFL is considered the finest of the British longwools,
the generous staple length of BFL translates into great wearability for any
day-to-day garment. And from an aesthetic perspective, BFL has a subtle luster to
it that gives elegance without a sense of ostentation.” ~ Clara Parkes
